Julie Howell

Job Role:

Responsible for the management and strategic direction of the Curtin Careers Centre.

Profile:

Julie has a teaching background in secondary education and over 15 years experience in career development within the university sector. Her PhD was on the topic of the use of e-Portfolios within career education.

Career Development Consultant - Science and Engineering

Amanda Faithfull

Job Role:

Provides career development services and develops career resources for students within the Faculty of Engineering and Science. Amanda also facilitates the Work Experience program, the annual WASM Kalgoorlie Career Fair and works with Curtin’s student groups.

Profile:

Having over seven years experience in the careers industry, with a Graduate Certificate in Career Development, Amanda has experience working in high schools, the not for profit industry and in private practice. Amanda also has backgrounds in IT and Youth Work and is a member of the Career Development Association of Australia.

Career Development Consultant - Health Sciences

Providing career counselling services and delivering workshops within the curriculum for students within the Faculty of Health Sciences, organising the Careers in ... - seminars and National Career Development Week. Career Centre contact for students eligible to be part of the Elite Athlete Friendly University Network (EAFU).

Profile:

Lauren is a psychology graduate of Curtin, who also holds a Graduate Certificate in Career Development.

Career Development Consultant - Humanities

Susan Surgener

Job Role:

Providing career counselling and delivering workshops within the Careers Centre and in curriculum for students within the Faculty of Humanities. Involved in the organisation of the Careers Assistant Program; an internship with a focus on providing access to the Australian workplace for international students and students with limited employment experience.

Profile:

Susan has a Masters in Career Development and additional university qualifications associated with Library Science and Professional Writing. Susan has worked in tertiary careers services for the past ten years and is a professional member of the Career Development Association of Australia.

Career Development Consultant - Business and SIFE Co-ordinator

Kristy Warrick

Job Role:

Providing career counselling services and delivering workshops within the Faculty of Business. Kristy coordinates the SIFE Curtin team, and would love to hear from any students interested in making positive change in their local community through the power of social enterprise.

Profile:

Kristy has a Masters in Organisational Psychology from Curtin University, and is currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Education (Psychology and Career Education) at Edith Cowan University after being awarded a federal government Career Scholarship in early 2010. Kristy has professional experience working with Elite Athletes as part of the Athlete Career and Education (ACE) Program at the Western Australian Institute of Sport as well as working in a consulting capacity as an Organisational Psychologist and Vocational Counsellor.

Career Development Consultant - Community and Mentoring

Alison coordinates the Curtin Careers Mentoring Program, which matches senior students to Curtin alumni with a similar degree.

Profile:

Alison has a Graduate Certificate in Careers Education and Development (RMIT). Alison has previously worked for the Australian Public Service in Canberra in a range of policy and program areas, including Careers Advice Australia in the Department of Education Science and Training (now DEEWR) and the Stronger Families & Communities Strategy in the Department of Family and Community Services (now FaHCSIA).

Career Resource Officer

Julian Harris

Job Role:

Organising and providing a comprehensive information service supporting the University's career practitioners, students and employers. Responsible for the development and maintenance of the Careers Services' library, resources, and provision of first tier information to students.

Profile:

Julian has qualifications in Psychology from UWA and possesses a Graduate Diploma of Lifelong Learning and Development from USQ. He has also worked in recruitment.

Employer Liaison Co-ordinator

Sarah Moffat

Job Role:

Responsible for the organisation of Curtin Career Fairs, coordinating the delivery of services and programs for employers that facilitate their graduate recruitment campaigns and provide direct contact with students.

Profile:

Sarah is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and has a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing. Sarah has 10 years industry experience in roles with Nestle, Coca Cola and Goodman Fielder. Before joining the Employer Liaison team at the Careers Centre she worked in Universities teaching and as an internship coordinator providing guidance, assistance and support to students in gaining practical work experience in a professional setting. Sarah also liaised with industry employers in relation to internships, graduate employment and guest speakers.

Employer Liaison Officer

Wendy Yip

Job Role:

Responsible for the management of the Careers Centre’s CareersConnect website, hosting employers for on-campus presentations and how to get involved on campus, assisting in email outs and mail outs requests from employers, assisting in major events such as the Global Connections Month and responsible for the Experience Works! Program (work insurance for students on unpaid placements).

Profile:

Wendy graduated from Curtin University in 2005 from a Bachelor of Commerce. She worked in recruitment for two years before joining the Employer Liaison team at the Careers Centre.
